Faculty-led Affinity Networks (FANs)

The Rutgers Black Women in Arts and Sciences Faculty Affinity Network is a space for connection to combat isolation and foster a sense of community, enabling peer-to-peer support focused programmatically on the unique needs and experiences of Black women faculty in the arts and sciences fields.

The Faculty Affinity Network on Disability, Accessibility and Inclusion at Rutgers uses research, education, and narrative exchange to catalyze shifts in perceptions, policies, and procedural frameworks about disabilities.

The Rutgers Faculty Parents+ Affinity Network is a space for connection to combat isolation, foster a sense of community, and enable peer-to-peer support that focuses programmatically on the unique needs and experiences of faculty with caregiving responsibilities for family members of all ages, ranging from infants to college kids to elders.

The Rutgers LGBTQIA+ Faculty Affinity Network is a space for connection to combat isolation, promote inclusion, foster a sense of community, and enable peer-to-peer support that focuses programmatically on the unique needs and experiences of LGBTQIA+ faculty.

The Rutgers Non-Tenure (NTT) Faculty Affinity Network provides a platform for NTT teaching faculty cross-campus to collaborate and offer support, given the unique demands of the NTT position within Rutgers.

Co-Leads: Ana Pairet-Vinas, Ph.D., Selin Bengi Gumrukcu, Ph.D. and Elif Sendur, Ph.D.

The Rutgers Transnational Scholars FAN creates an inclusive and supportive community for Rutgers scholars from countries other than the US. Whether faculty are launching a career while adjusting to unfamiliar cultural norms or have built a career in the US, this network connects them with colleagues whose identity encompasses more than one national culture or language.

Co-Leads: Mary Emenike, Ph.D and Christine Cahill, Ph.D

The SoTL FAN is designed to support faculty engaged in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, including those who are experienced and those with little to no experience, by providing a structured space for faculty thinking about starting a SoTL project (including related to IRB requirements), those who are looking for guidance, help, and accountability, those who can provide guidance, advice, and mentorship, and those seeking collaborations.

STEP-IN supports faculty well-being and productivity through structured co-working sessions using evidence-based time management tools. Open to all faculty, STEP-IN fosters cross-disciplinary connection, accountability, and sustainable work habits while promoting equity, reflection, and community in a supportive academic environment.
